Statewide Autistic Services Incorporated
Statewide Autistic Services Incorporated is a non-profit organisation funded through government grants, donations and fundraising activities.
SASI, as the organisation has become known, originated in December 1966, and was then known as the Victorian Autistic Children's Association. Originally the program operated from a church hall in Cheltenham, providing specialised education for six children with autism.
What started out almost fifty years ago as a service run by dedicated parents for six children who were excluded from the education system is now a thriving operation serving over 220 people in Victoria on a daily basis.
SASI's training arm supports the development of autism awareness and knowledge by the broader community, and through delivery of training enables increased positive outcomes and interactions which contribute to an inclusive community.
