A semester-long course focusing on a variety of literature from around the globe, including fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry. Selections were written as long ago as 2500 BC and as recently as 2013. Selections will be divided into units based on thematic concepts and emphasis is put on studying the material within its cultural, historical, and religious context. Throughout the year students will draw parallels between literary works and the contemporary world while learning about representative cultures. These relationships will be evaluated by responding to the literature through various writing modes and assignments. Strong emphasis will be placed upon students' written interpretations.
