The opportunities for us to engage with today’s society have never been stronger.
Social media is now a mainstream of everyday life, connecting us with family, friends, interests, news and more. We can link into our social media at home, at work or on the move. The availability of phones and tablets now means that not only can we post in almost an instant, but even go one step further and stream something live as it happens.
It can be a great tool when used properly, opening up conversations and opportunities that we may not have found otherwise.
But equally, there are a number of key things to consider, so that we use social media effectively, responsibly, and safely.
This module is designed to take you through some good practice for using social media. There are guidelines and examples which showcase what to do, and of course, what not to do, when you’re on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat or any other platform.
By completing this module, you should build a level of understanding of social media which means you can use it confidently.
As a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYP), there are lots of opportunities for you to engage and consult with your constituents on social media, but to get the most out of these platforms, it’s crucial that you have a good understanding of how to use them in a safe and responsible manner.
