This is an advanced training course for social workers, psychologists and other professionals in practice and the aim is to provide specialised substance use disorder services to the client. The foundation of the workshop draws from several of theoretical models and approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy, ecological approach, humantic theories, psychoanalytical theory, etc. This course will challenge the participant views on evidence-based practices that works. Participants must complete the first course in Basic SUD as well be registered with a professional body offering counselling or therapy to clients. The course is broken down into 8 modules covering a refresher course in basic and advanced counselling skills and theoretical models and approaches. It focusses further on the stage of recovery, the treatment process, detoxification, assessment, interventions and discharge and aftercare planning.
