Course reviews will be shown here

Welcome to S4IL. This project aims to develop the following skills -

  • Independent Learning
  • Critical Thinking
  • Research Skills
  • Academic Literacy

By completing this course we hope your students will feel more 'university ready' and use these skills in their Level 3 study. Each session also makes reference to, where possible, how academic skills can be applied to the world of work in order to support the development of student's employability skills. Each lesson includes -

  • A lesson plan
  • Lesson resources for download and photocopy to use in the sessions
  • Hyperlinks to interesting resources and video clips
  • Some 'think pieces' on how this course could be included in subject specific teaching.

Please get in touch if you think we could add anything to the sessions and we will amend them.

We would be grateful if you could invite your learners to access the 'student area' of the course by visiting -

After setting up a free log-in *using their school/college email address they can access useful resources on this site.

Green Impact: Where S4IL sessions can be delivered in a less resource intensive way tips will be provided. The University of Greenwich is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to efforts to educate for a more sustainable future.

"To be a teacher in the right sense is to be a learner. Instruction begins when you, the teacher, learn from the learner, put yourself in his place so that you may understand what he understands and the way he understands it." - Søren Kierkegaard

* We will remove learners who do not have a school/college email address in order to manage members and safeguard the use of the site.
