Corporate Approach

Developed by Corporate Approach

Corporate Approach has been rendering linguistic services for more than 10 years. This company is the result of the gathering of a group of professors and professionals with very concrete goals convinced that imparting knowledge cannot be elitist. We are a group of very different professionals, who embrace the implementation of available technology to improve our level of knowledge, no matter what our country of origin or economic status. Passion for what we do and the firm conviction to change how teaching has been done since Victorian times is what truly moves us. This approach to prepare obedient people, and turn them into submissive employees without a voice of their own should be water under the bridge, but unfortunately the model has perpetuated. We want and are committed to breaking that paradigm. That is exactly what leads us to share our experiences.

Overview

Public speaking has been around for a very long time, and it is just another way of communication. The aim of public speaking is to pass on information, encourage, or simply tell a story. When speakers have the needed skills, they can really catch the audience’s attention instead of only informing. Motivation, persuasion, and conveying information are at the heart of public speaking. In order to fully understand this fascinating area of the language, we must go back to Ancient Rome and Greece where the main component of the speeches of the time was rhetoric. However, in the world we live in today, the importance of speaking in public is crucial.

This is obviously not the first or the last course on public speaking you will engage in. We are not going to bore you to death trying to explain what you have to do before an audience. It is obvious that you have to rehearse and time your speeches before going on stage. It is obvious that you need to know who your audience is to adapt your speech to their needs. It is obvious that you have to check your presentations and the audio system you are to use in the auditorium. These are things you must have heard a million times.

There have been great speakers like JFK, Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King, and Barak Obama just to name a few. Our intention in this course is to show you some of today's best speakers and analyze what are the combined elements that make a speech a work of art. There are speeches magnificently combined with humor that keep the audience awake and deeply involved. Sometimes, it is the descriptive language used without any visual aids that catches our attention. I suppose everybody likes to hear magnificently told stories, and I think that the reason is quite simple: before writing was invented we only had an oral tradition.

As you can see, there are so many reasons I can think of to do the right thing: learn to express yourself in a convincing manner. We must do so by using the appropriate vocabulary while maintaining a tone of voice and tempo. I strongly believe it is as skill we all can master, if we put our minds to it.

So, we hope to bring some light into this extremely important issue that will help you in your professional and personal life. The satisfaction of expressing yourself correctly is priceless.

Objectives

The objective of this course is to help you gain the needed confidence to express yourself in public, and that does not necessarily mean in front  of a large audience. There are situations in life, when you may have to sell your ideas to others, for instance, at work. You must do it in a convincing, professional manner. To be perceived as a player you have to be able to project empathy; it takes time and a considerable effort, but it is indeed something attainable.

Designed for

The course is designed for anyone genuinely interested in overcoming the difficulties of speaking in front of others. If you are tired of feeling insecure and anxious when it comes to speaking in public, this is the course that can definitely make a difference. All of us at some point or another have to speak in public, and if I were you, I would get ready for the occasion.

Once you finish the course

You will have the necessary confidence to express your ideas orally in a correct, effective manner. We want you to feel at ease, and most important of all, we want you to aspire to more ambitious jobs in your professional career, for without a high level of English, this is just a mirage.
