This course introduces students to a broad range of issues, concepts, and approaches integral to the study of peace and conflict. Subject areas include the war system and war prevention, conflict resolution and nonviolence, human rights and social justice, development and environmental sustainability.

Each week students must create an art piece related to their classroom topic of study, though these do not necessarily include a practical component and are based entirely on creativity, effort, and relation to peace and conflict through academic coursework. Participating students bear major responsibility for researching the course topic and planning and conducting the artistic piece.
