Welcome to Mississippi School for the Deaf!
We are excited that you have joined the Mississippi School for the Deaf's instructional team. As you embark on your new journey, it is important that you are aware of the services available and utilize them.
If you have less than 3 years of teaching experience, a mentor will be assigned to you. Your mentor will provide you support and assistance as you transition into the profession of teaching. Research shows that teachers usually find their niche after the third year of teaching. Your mentor is not your evaluator, but is someone who can provide assistance and ensure your transition to the Mississippi School for the Deaf is successful.
It is important that you become aware of the Mississippi School for the Deaf's mission and philosophy statements as they drive what we do for our students.
The mission and philosophy statement can be found using this link. http://www.msd.k12.ms.us
Before continuing your orientation course, you will need to familiarize yourself with the Mississippi School for the Deaf Faculty and Student handbook. Those can be found using the following links. http://www.msd.k12.ms.us/staff-handbook and http://www.msd.k12.ms.us/student-handbook
Another document that guides our day to day operations is the Standard Operating Manual. You may familiarize yourself with this document at the following link. http://www.msd.k12.ms.us/standard-operating-manual
Should you have any questions, please contact me and I will be happy to assist you.
