Overview

NCEA LEVEL 3 ART HISTORY

*University approved subject.

Welcome to Level 3 Art History 2015.

This year we will examine the Mount Albert Grammar School art collection to develop an in-depth understanding of the impact of media and process.

We will survey the development of Italian Renaissance art, from Giotto in the early fourteenth century, through to Piero della Francesca in the 1470’s. We will study the sculptures of Donatello and the groundbreaking architecture of Brunelleschi. We will examine the major artistic styles of the period including Italo-Byzantine, International Gothic and Classicism. Northern Renaissance will be studied to provide comparison.

Assessment

There will be SIX achievement standards. Three standards will be assessed internally. The assignments for these will be completed throughout the year. The remaining three standards will be assessed by an external examination at the end of the year.

If you have any questions at all, please see either myself or Ms. Aleh (HOD) as soon as possible.

I am here to help you do your best.
