Open confession of Christ is an essential accompaniment of Salvation (Romans 10:9-10). Saving faith is bound to express itself, not only through the life, but also through the lips, for "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matthew 12:34). This is one of the great means of growth in the Christian life. Only two other such experiences are so vitally necessary - prayer and Bible study. The waters of the Dead Sea are dead because this sea is always receiving, never giving out. If we are all the while hearing gospel truths and keeping them to ourselves, we become weak and stagnant Christians. Indeed, one's unwillingness to let others know that he is a Christian may be proof that he is NOT truly a Christian.
