OBJECTIVES

This project aims to raise your intercultural competence exploring your own cultural knowledge and exploring other cultures.

DEFINITION

WEEK 1( INTRODUCTION)

Talking about interest/ hobbies, education, departments, families…

WEEK 2(TALKING ABOUT TIME)

Exploration how time concept is perceived in different cultures

WEEK 3 (FOOD)

Discussion about eating, serving food and its preparation across cultures

WEEK 4 (CONVERSATION VS SILENCE)

Discussion about the questions proper/ improper to ask in a culture.

WEEK 5 (GENDERED IDENTITIES)

Discussion on the roles of women and men across cultures

WEEK 6 (RAISING CHILDREN)

Discussion about the way children are brought up in a culture 

WEEK 7 (EDUCATION)

Discussion on the types of education, approaches to teachers, education and students

WEEK 8 (CLOSING)

Reflection on the project

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TELECOLLABORATORS

  • Active participation is necessary, so each of you should actively join discussions on the given topics. 
  • Punctuality is crucial. Each task will last for 7 days. Everybody is supposed to be punctual to respond on time. 
  • If you have to miss a task because of any reasons, you need to email your group members beforehand to let them know. 
  • The chat must be English 100%
  • Bad language is not permitted. 
  • At the end of the sessions, you are supposed to write a short reflection paper on what you have learnt from the task. 
  • All of the problems must be reported to the instructor immediately. 
  • Discuss each topic thoroughly before moving on to another topic. 
  • Prepare questions for discussion, pay attention to your partners' contributions and to learn to ask follow up questions. 
  • Ask for clarification if there is something you don't understand.
