Overview

This 40-week class covers the first year of English taught in Middle School. It is broken down into 4 units: The Underdog, Change for the Better, Trials and Tribulations, and Classic Conflict.

1. Grammar- Parts of Speech, Punctuation, Sentence Structure, and MLA formatting

2. Literature- Classic & Contemporary Novels, Poetry, and Short Stories

3. Writing- Expository, Descriptive, Argumentative, and Narrative Essays

4. Literary Devices- Alliteration, Flashback, Metaphor, Foreshadowing, Irony, Personification, Satire, Symbolism
