Overview

Welcome to Designing Coherent Instruction! While curriculum frameworks  provide a systematic way of approaching course content, the classroom teacher is responsible for ensuring that content is covered in a clear manner to ensure the students have the best chance for academic success. Thus designing coherent instruction is a multi-faceted aspect of our instructional practice. It involves planning activities that will engage students and help them conceptualize the content. As teachers we also have to "vet" instructional resources to ensure they are appropriate for the varying levels of our students; as well as try to provide opportunities for students to work collaboratively because sometimes our students sometimes learn just as much from each other as they do from direct instruction.
