Overview

DBT CCC (Committed Community Circle) is a group that will meet for 90 minutes each week  to discuss how things are going with applying DBT Skills (with a focus on Mindfulness, though you may discuss other skills if you are needing support practicing them).  Ample time will be given for those who want to go over worksheets they've filled out during the week.

What does it mean to live in the "now," free from the torment of the hurt of the past and also not at the mercy about worries pertaining to the future?  In DBT, we learn a variety of mindfulness skills throughout the modules that can help. This CCC class will take things a bit deeper.

In DBT, we learn that we are not our thoughts.  Going deeper, we are not our minds, either.  Eckhart's book goes into how we are the observer of the mind and of its processes, including the thoughts we notice throughout each day.  This empowering point of view helps us to make wiser decisions when our thoughts trigger unpleasant emotions.

We'll talk about ways to reduce the power that thoughts have over you. Eckhart calls this "...the beginning of the end of involuntary and compulsive thinking."

If you're ready to take your mindfulness practice to the next level, change the way you relate to your thoughts, and do so in an encouraging, motivated, peer community, this class is for you.

We will be reading excerpts and doing activities from Eckhart Tolle's book, "The Power of Now," which you can purchase by clicking HERE.  The e-version will work as well.  Please note that this book contains spiritual concepts that may not appeal to all. This was disclosed on the information page before signing up.  If you have any questions or concerns, please email dbtpath@gmail.com before proceeding with this course.
