Instructor

Sarah Haws-Taylor, LMHC, BCBA

BCBA Supervisor #1-08-4728

I have worked with children implementing behavior-analytic services for 15 years. I have a license in mental health counseling and have been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) since 2008. In 2011, I taught master level BCBA courses at National University in San Diego, CA. I am currently finishing up my doctoral degree from Arizona State University in Behavioral Healthcare Management (DBH) and hope to complete my culminating project June 2018. I have been the owner and president of Child Enrichment Center, a behavioral health agency for children with autism, since 2006. To learn more about Child Enrichment Center check out our website at www.childenrichmentcenter.org. I have supervised and trained hundreds of practitioners in the practice of behavior analysis who work with children with autism. I love working with children and feel so very fulfilled in my work. My goal is to share the knowledge and tools I have gained in my practice to others working in the field.

Overview

The purpose of this 40-hour training course in applied behavior analysis (ABA) is to provide behavior technicians (an entry level behavior analyst) with the required 40 hours of ABA training hours to apply for the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).  The BACB provides the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Exam and the RBT certification.  This course does not and is independent of the BACB.

Review the requirements to become an RBT on the BACB website:  BACB RBT Requirements.  There are several requirements the BACB sets forth for RBT applicants and the completion of this course satisfies the training portion only.  It is the responsibility of the students of this course to know and understand all of the requirements the BACB has for the RBT credential. www.bacb.com/RBT-Requirements/

Please go to the BACB website and read these requirements before emailing the instructor of this course

Grading & Completion of Course Information:

To pass this course you must complete all RBT Task List quizzes for each topic section and a final test comprising of 50 questions derived from the the topic quizzes.

RBT Topic Quizzes

  1. After viewing the PowerPoint presentations and additional videos and resources, the student will go the "Tasks" tab and complete the quiz for the topic they completed.
  2. The student will have unlimited opportunities to pass each Topic Quiz with 80% or higher.  You will know right away when you have missed a question, so write down the missed question and search for the answer so you can correct it the next time you take the quiz.
  3. At the end of each quiz, you will be given the option to "retry" or retake the quiz to improve your grade before submitting or to submit.  Please use this feature so that you do not need to have the quiz reset.
  4. If you click the submit button before changing your grade you may email the instructor to request to have a quiz reset. Email:  childenrichmentcenter@gmail.com. DON'T USE THE DISCUSSION BOARD. It gets too confusing! It may take up to 72 hours to reset the quiz so study the material before taking the quiz.
  5. The topics in this course build on one another, so start with the ABA Overview then take Quiz 1 under the "Tasks" tab and then go down the list of topics (2) Measurement, 3) Assessment, ...etc.) doing the quiz following the lesson in each topic.  Be sure to view all the material within the topic before taking the quiz.

Final Test

  1. The Final Test is also located in the "Task" section of the course
  2. Do not take the Final Test until you have passed all of the Topic Quizzes
  3. the student will have 2 opportunities to pass the Final Test with 90% or higher.
  4. The student must pass the Final Test to complete the course and to receive a "Certificate of Completion" for the entire 40-hours of RBT training.
  5. Again, the student must complete this course within 180-days, therefore the date of the first completed Topic section; ABA Overview, and the date of the Eliademy Final Test specified on the Certificate of Completion should be no longer than 180-days between them because the BACB may not accept the training hours. In addition, the BACB will not accept training hours less than 40 hours spent on this online course.  The instructor can view the student's interactions with the course and can use discretion in determining if they student honestly completed 40 hours.  The instructor will not sign off on a certificate if the training is completed in less than 4 days.  In addition, this is a self-paced course with the BACB's requirement of being completed in 180 days, therefore it is the responsibility of the student/RBT applicant to make sure they track the days of study complete the course in the required time.  The instructor does not take responsibility for RBT applicant/student fulfilling the requirements of the BACB.

RBT Training Certificate of Completion

  1. An  Certificate of Completion for 40-hours of RBT training will be generated when you have completed/reviewed all course material, passed all topic quizzes and final test, and completed all of the steps (list start and stop dates of the course and the name and email you want the certificate of completion to be sent to) for RBT Training Certificate of Completion assignment found under the "Task" tab.
  2. When you have completed the course, please do not select me, Sarah Haws, LMHC, BCBA as your supervisor with the BACB as you are required to obtain the RBT Competency Assessment from a supervisor your work with or you have a contract to do so.
  3. The instructor can view the student's interactions with the course and can use discretion in determining if the student honestly completed 40 hours.  The instructor will not sign off on a certificate of completion if 40 hours was completed in less than 5 days.
