Overview

This module enables students to develop their own research ideas through a piece of guided
independent research. This module is designed to run over two consecutive semesters to give
students sufficient time to develop their ideas and produce an in-depth written report.
Students will learn how to formulate a research proposal and plan their research agenda
accordingly. It will then become incumbent upon the student to follow the agenda and
submit a final research report of between 10,000 and 15,000 words at the end of the second
semester.
As the work is, for the most part, carried out independently of any classroom activities, it is
recommended that only strong students who are capable of producing excellent written work
be allowed to take this module.
