Overview

This longitudinal course is designed for junior faculty and/or new investigators who plan to develop skills in developing a research protocol, conducting a study, and inferring results from the study. The course will take an investigator through various stages of planning for a research study. The course will require active participation from course enrollees, completion of reading assignments (when given), and home work assignments. At the end of the course, participants will be able to

- Develop a research question

- Identify study population

- Do meaningful sample size calculations

- Understand the challenges of different study designs

- Collect and manage data

- Understand basic concepts of causality
